Families of Denison Montessori (FDM) is holding elections for its Executive Board at its April meeting. Any Denison parent or guardian is eligible to run for most positions if they have attended at least 2 FDM meetings this school year. Only Chair Officer positions require being a prior board member. If you are interested, save the dates: FDM has upcoming meetings on Feb. 12th and March 12th at 4:15-5:45 in the Denison Library. Please attend regardless of whether or not you’d like to run, and help us plan activities for the rest of the school year!
FDM is Denison’s parent and family organization which helps plan community building events and fundraisers. Meetings are held monthly, on the second Tuesday of the month. Occasionally additional meetings may he held. Officers serve a term of one year and one month from May 1, 2019 to June 1, 2020. Your involvement provides for a more active and involved community which allows for more resources to support our students.
Should you be interested in helping FDM serve Denison to the best of our ability, please consider joining our Executive Board. Please email us from the contact us page by March 12th. Better yet, come to the nomination meeting that day at 4:15 in the library. The nominating committee will correspond or meet with interested parents. We will send ballots home in Friday Folders to be returned by April 9th. We will post a slate of officers-elect at the FDM meeting on May 14th. FDM Executive Board Officers and Roles and Responsibilities
2 Chairs: preside over meetings of FDM and the Executive Board, serve as a primary contact for the principal and others as designated by the principal, represent the organization at meetings outside of the organization, and serve as an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee.
Vice Chair: coordinate the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the organization be served, assist the Chairs, and carry out the Chair's duties in their absence or inability to serve.
Recording Secretary: keep all records of the organization, take and record minutes, prepare the agenda, handle postal correspondence, and send notices of meetings to the membership; keep a copy of the minutes book, bylaws, rules, membership list, and any other necessary supplies, and bring them to the meetings.
Treasurer: receive all funds of the organization, keep an accurate record of receipts, expenditures, and payout funds; in accordance with the approval of the Executive Board; present a financial statement at every meeting and at other times the year when requested by the Executive Board, and make a full report at the end of the year.
Communications Secretary: coordinate communication guidelines with the principal, manage marketing for FDM, including, but not limited to, FDM newsletter, email broadcasts, website, flyers, and bulletin boards: upload meeting agenda and minutes to website, as well as create calendar events and volunteer sign ups.
Fundraising Liaison: coordinate the selection, advertising, implementation, and reporting of all fundraisers.
